Work safely in the construction industry CPCCOHS1001A is from the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package.
From 1 September 2009 this OH&S construction induction training course is recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework, VETAB & is recognised by WorkCover. This OH&S general induction for construction work course replaces the Construction Induction Course & each successful paticipant will be issued a White Card or the NSW Construction Induction Card or CIC (formerly Green Card) from WorkCover.
If you are 14 years or over or you want to re-enter the construction industry after an absence of 2 years, you are legally bound to gain the NSW Construction Induction Card or White Card (Green Card)to work on a construction site in NSW.
Course Summary: This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake OH&S induction training within the construction industry. It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of OH&S legislative requirements and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry. Licensing requirements will apply to this unit of competency depending on the regulatory requirements of each jurisdiction.
Before enrolling into a course you must comply with the following Evidence of Identity (EOI):

The minimum age to attend is 14 years
Each applicant must provide a 100 point evidence of identity (EOI) before being admitted to the course
Within the EOI documents, the participant must be able to show their:
Photo
Date of birth
Signature
Current address
All EOI documentation must:
Be originals
Be in the same name unless accompanied by a document from NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages (or State/Territory equivalent) verifying change of name
include the participant’s full name. Initials can only be accepted for property (council) rates notice
Be in English unless accompanied by an English translation issued by a NAATI accredited trainer
Note, bank statements/credit cards and savings account cards from overseas institutions can only be accepted if the institutions have representation in Australia, subject to the card or statement being issued in Australia and in English

Booking procedure:
• Select a course to attend
• Book & pay online, in person, over the phone or post
• Attend the nominated practical session, at the conclusion of which you will be assessed via practical participation and a theory assessment.
Course duration: 6 hours
Assessment: oral & written.
Completion standard
Upon successful completion of the ohs construction induction training certificate course, participants receive a statement of attainment as part of Certificate I in Construction. Successful participants will be issued with a WorkCover Statement of Training (SOT) on the day of training. SOT’s are valid for 30 days from the date of issue and can be used as evidence general induction training has been successfully completed. WorkCover will issue a NSW Construction Induction Card or White Card (formerly Green Card) within 30 days.
