The RCG course (Responsible Conduct of Gambling) involves the successful completion of the unit:
Provide Responsible Gambling Services SITHGAM006A from the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package SIT07.

This RCG NSW course became mandatory from 31 December 2001 for the staff of all gaming venues (NSW) and is recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework, VETAB (NSW) & the previously the LAB. The new Casino, Liquor, Gaming Control Authority (NSW) has replaced the Liquor Administration Board (LAB) 1 July 2008.

Explains the indicators and impact of problem gambling
Describes the legislative framework for responsible conduct of gambling
Methods of implementing responsible conduct of gambling strategies
Lists the benefits of implementing responsible conduct of gambling practices

Pre-reading: (OPTIONAL) Relevant Liquor & Gaming bulletins (available from Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing & Licensees); Productivity Commission's Inquiry Report on Australia's Gambling Industries; Director of Liquor & Gaming V's Crows Nest Club

Assessment & completion standard: Theory & written
Identify & assist potential problem gamblers / provide assistance to family & friends / voluntary self exclusion of problem gamblers. Upon successful completion of the RCG course, participants receive a Statement of Attainment. From 1 December 2008 students will also receive an additional certificate from the Casino, Liquor, Gaming Control Authority (NSW) to comply with the new regulations.
