How we run the course: Your Options
You may choose to complete the entire TAA40104 qualification or selected modules only
Generally speaking, you should complete the entire TAA40104 qualification if:
- it is a condition of your employment
- your primary job function is that of a trainer/assessor
- you hope to work as a workplace trainer/assessor.
You may choose to enrol in selected modules only, if:
- you have recently completed part of the TAA40104 qualification with another registered training organisation and are able to provide Statements of Attainment for the competencies demonstrated to prove this. In this case, you need only to enrol in the remaining modules with ATS.
- your work role is focussed on specific aspects of training/assessment only— for example, if you work as an assessor but don't deliver training, you may only need to complete the assessment module.

Students Completing the Entire TAA Qualification
Students selecting this option will be trained and assessed in all 14 units contributing to the TAA40104, using a blended learning approach.
Target client group
Enrolling in the full course is ideal for people who:
- have had limited or no prior experience in training and assessment and need to be trained to achieve competence
OR
- have the BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training but are unable to provide evidence of current competence as workplace trainers/assessors
AND
- have the resources and aptitudes to participate in a blended delivery mode (see page 16 of the 'General Pre-Enrolment Information' link at the bottom of the page for a list of requirements for participation in blended learning).
What is 'blended learning'?
'Blended learning' simply means that a 'blend' of delivery approaches is used to help students develop competence. At ATS we combine:
- Self-paced learning activities—activities to be completed at a time and location of your convenience, and by set deadlines, with ongoing support available as needed from a qualified TAA40104 trainer. See the link 'Blended Learning – Tasks and Time Commitments' at the bottom of the page for more information
WITH
- Face-to-face learning—self-paced learning is reinforced by attendance at full-day face-to-face sessions.
Benefits of blended learning
ATS chooses to teach using a blended delivery approach because:
- the self-paced learning components offer the convenience of being able to complete learning activities at a time and in a place that suits you
- the face-to-face components allow the benefits of social learning with opportunities for practice and feedback from your trainer.
By blending the delivery approach, ATS has ensured a flexible yet quality learning experience for a reasonable cost.
Support available
Throughout your learning, you will be supported by a qualified TAA40104 program leader.
Your program leader will be your main contact person throughout your learning experience with ATS. S/he will contact you upon enrolment to introduce him/herself to you. At this time s/he will give you his/her email contact details.
Your program leader will be the person who will deliver the face-to-face components of the program. S/he will also be available via email to:
- answer questions and give feedback about the self-paced learning activities to be completed
- answer questions about the assessment requirements.

OR
- Your work role is focussed on specific aspects of training/assessment only— for example, if you work as an assessor but don't deliver training, you may only need to complete the assessment module.

Additional options for students requiring 'Recognition for Prior Learning' (RPL)
Some students may already have the required skills and knowledge needed to be deemed competent and therefore are ready to be assessed 'up front' without needing to be trained.
If this is you, then please read the RPL information on pages 17-19 of the 'General Pre-Enrolment Information for Students' below, then contact ATS to express your interest in the RPL option so that we can ensure that this is the right choice for you.
